MEET ALEX

Alex Garcia is running for District Court Judge in Fayette County because he believes our courts should reflect the community they serve.

Alex spent ten years as a prosecutor, handling cases from misdemeanors to one of the largest criminal trials in Kentucky history. He then spent three years in education law, protecting students and ensuring civil rights compliance. He also serves as a Major in the United States Army Reserve, providing legal assistance to service members and their families.

Alex sits on the Mayor's Racial Justice and Equity Commission. He currently serves as Chairman of LexArts. He serves on the Lexington Public Library Foundation and is the incoming President of the Fayette County Bar Association. He has given his time to Partners for Youth, Leadership Lexington, and the Central Kentucky Inns of Court.

District Court is the people's court. It's where everyday Kentuckians encounter the justice system—traffic cases, landlord-tenant disputes, small claims, misdemeanors, protective orders. These cases may seem routine, but they matter deeply to the people involved. He believes people deserve a judge who has lived in the real world, who understands the law, and who will treat everyone with dignity and fairness.

Ready to Lead

Alex is the son of blue collar, hard-working parents. They worked with their hands and taught him that hard work is the only path forward. He is a first-generation college student, the first in his family to attend law school, and the first to become an attorney.

If elected, Alex will be the first Latino judge ever to serve on the bench in Lexington.

He is not running to make history for its own sake. He is running because Fayette County deserves experienced, fair, empathetic leadership on the bench—and because he believes representation matters.

Alex and his partner Katie have made Lexington their home. They are rooted here—professionally, personally, and permanently.

His parents taught him that if you want to see change, you have to be the change.

Alex is asking for your vote. Let’s make history—together.
